So, the two routers are not physically connected by a network cable? I didn't know that was possible.

If the one is acting as a WAP and receiving the signal from the other, wired router?  Didn't know you could do that, either, but if you can control the software/firmware, I don't see why not.  Over my head, though.

Easy to manage on Apple Airport Extreme / Airport Express.  Bridged base stations can be configured to either extend the base network range, or create sub-networks.  While I was transitioning hardware for a while, I had two wireless networks running at different speeds (.11n and .11g)- the .11g network was bridged off the .11n, which was connected to the WAN/Internet.

yeah, you can do it.  like i said, there's a performance hit, and it's a bit tricky to setup, but it works.

Go for cat 6, should be future proof for 10gb.  Loving the wired network I put up.  I just need to wire up another electrical circuit in the basement.

Is it possible that the power supply loses its "power" over time?  I was doing fine with my computer until I plug in the firewire for the video capture and suddenly I am missing one hard drive. After a bunch of "try this and thats" since I know there is nothing wrong with the hard drives. Even if I swap them (with the cables) I came to that it is the power supply after doing the power supply calculator. It turns out for a long time I was running at its near max capacity.  I ordered a new one going from 350 to 650 watts. The calculator recommended that I should be having a 500 watt. It should arrive tomorrow.

I know power supply can be the last place to look. Well, it is always the last place you look, anyway.

With the custom firmware, you should be able to boost signal strength... not enough for your situation?

useless. boosting signal strength also boosts noise, basically changing nothing.  also it increases heat on the chips.

Getting a new beast of a laptop in a few weeks, will be glad to get rid of this one.  It takes 3 minutes from power on to get a responsive browser page.

No drive letter assigned.  Just that Win7 recognized the device and it is listed in Device and Printers window.  Even Premiere Pro can tell that if it is ready or not.
