I was making a bad Cricket joke because I don't understand the scoring, either.  Just like Cricket.

Yeah, that would be 275 runs with 5 people "out" in cricket...

Gun stuff is well beyond me.

I looked over the link... and the scoring still escapes me. the first part of the 0-300 makes sense, but for "274-5".
what does the "-5" signify?

Within the 10-ring there is a smaller "X" ring.  If you page back in this thread, you can see an image of a target.  Note the 10 ring and then the smaller "X" ring within.  The "-5" would signify that of the 30 shots taken on all targets, 5 of them were in the "X" ring (and each also scored 10 points).  It's only significant in the scoring if two shooters have the same aggregate score--the one with the most number of "X" hits then wins the tied score match.  In my league (I suspect in most leagues) it's never really an issue.  But in the really top-tier leagues where shooters routinely score "possibles" (i.e., 300 of 300) the winner is the one with the most "X" hits.

So my "274-5" score means 274 aggregate points (out of 300) with 5 (of 30) hitting the "X" ring.

Shot a sorry 264-1 last night--only shot one relay.

Also took my 7-year-old son to the range and let him shoot off a rest, using the 25-yard targets at 15 yards.  He had a great time and outscored me 271-4.  I think his favorite part was picking up a bunch of miscellaneous range brass which has now been incorporated with his Legos.

Monday night's score:  276-6
Alas, had a wild shot on my slow-fire that lost me 4 points.  Frustrating that an otherwise good relay can be spoiled by one muscle twitch...

278-5 last night.  I only shot the one relay because I had to get back to work.

276-4 last week (9 NOV 2009).  Our club took a long pause between summer and winter league due to range problems (e.g., trying to find a shooting range).  The University of Utah range has always been used for winter league but the <expletive deleted> range officer (a U of U employee) treats it as his personal property and wants more money than the authorized university range fees.  It's always the money.  And for the same reason no shooting tonight while he mulls over how much we have to pay him to use public property.

278-3 last night.  First shot on slow fire was a crappy 6.  Ugh.
