Ran on the treadmill with the Nike Free today... Now understand my running is 8mph for 2 minutes tops, followed by a varied range of 3-6mph jogging.
The second I stood up in these I knee they were a running shoe, clearly intended for pushing off from the toes. When I started to put some weight into movements I felt my toes spread and my foot move differently than I am accustomed to.
It felt good. My muscles ache, but I feel very good. And if I had the strength and endurance to continue I would not have stopped. I put in about an hour between two runs at the gym.

that is way too much money for a shoe.  and barefoot, is not how you want to be on concrete.. all day long.

a sharpie works great for wiping out branding.  a freind of mine long ago's dad would wear his stan smith tennis shoes for about a month a pair before they got scuffed and he gave them to his kid - who would sharpie the entire white leather shoe/sole.

"cool".

I don't know... the amount of impact on a foot while running is far greater than just standing around on rubber mats and carpet (not concrete)
My feet feel better, the day after running "barefoot," than they have felt in a long time... Granted the Nike shoes still have quite a bit of cushioning though...

Running with the Nike Free 5.0s is so much fun...  I may try to find and see if I can fit into either Vibram KSO Trek or Flows for up at the lakehouse this summer.  With any luck I should have built up enough strength training in the Nikes that I can do some hiking in the Vibrams...

Not slippers.  No matter how much the ads and reviews say these are minimalist barely any material footwear, these are shoes.
I ordered a pair of Lesotho from them like I said I was going to, size 13 which is what I normally wear, too damn tight for my toes.  I'll exchange them for a size 14.  They felt very comfortable to stand in, if they weren't crushing my toes, so hopefully the next size up fits and isn't too loose everywhere else.  I hate having freakish feet.

Oh and if anyone does order anything from them, use the coupon code TPLOVESKEY for a 50% discount.

I was somewhat disappointed to see a "made in china" sticker on them, too, given that environmentally friendly practices are one of the selling points...

I'm shocked! Shocked!, I say.

So much for Ron ever using these....

The TPU Cage has breathable mesh and lightweight micro fiber reinforcements for maximum breathability and support while only weighing in at 8 ounces.

I had Nike hi-top basketball shoes that weighed 11oz. $160?

Been wearing the new shoes to work, most comfortable pair of shoes ever. Noisy on hard surfaces thanks to the flat bottom unless you walk heel to toe, I tend to land on my midfoot when walking.
Feels very close to barefoot.

I still want to try VFF but doubt that I will find a good fit.

Very cool...
The pictured VFF are the brand new Bikila which were released in VERY limited supply to coincide with the marathon and hopefully will be seeing major distribution soon.

I want a pair, but I'm still so nervous about fitment.

I'm loving my shoes from Terra Plana though, for work.  I don't know that I want to spend another $160 for minimalist running shoes.  I would invest the $100 for the Bikila if I knew they fit though.
